Miriam Knight -Independent patient representative for residents of the UK

After witnessing the harrowing effects of a fluoroquinolone prescription on her husband, Miriam embarked on a journey of research and advocacy. In 2015, she co-founded a Facebook support group for fluoroquinolone victims in the UK as well as took on the role of an administrator for the European Group, which united 'floxies' across Europe. In 2018, Miriam, alongside 15 individuals impacted by these antibiotics, addressed a public hearing on fluoroquinolones organized by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vao8o5NGUc).  Despite resulting in some additional warnings and restrictions issued in March 2019, the outcomes fell short of the community's expectations. Miriam would like to raise awareness among doctors about the risks associated with each fluoroquinolone prescription, likening it to playing Russian Roulette with a patient's life.
